    This solar system model of the atom is easy to understand and good enough for illustrating the most basic principles of chemistry.

    However, this model is quite wrong.

    In reality, atoms don’t look or behave anything like the solar system. Planets are localized and follow precise orbits around stars governed by the laws of gravity.

    In contrast, the motion of electrons is predicated on quantum mechanics
