Dr. Carmenza Duque Beltrán is currently an Emeritus Professor at the Chemistry Department of the National University of Colombia, Colombia.
She was the Executive Director of the Corporation Center of Excellence in Marine Science (CEMarin), Colombia, and Vice-president of the Colombian Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences.

She graduated with a degree in Chemistry in 1972 from the National University of Colombia, completed her PhD degree at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan in 1980, and her post-graduate studies at Stanford University, United States in 1982 and Würzburg University, Germany in 1988 and 1991.
Since then, she has dedicated her life to the education of graduate and post-graduate students in analytical chemistry and natural product chemistry and her scientific research in the same field. In 1993, she became a Full Professor at the National University of Colombia, Colombia.
