Jimmy Carter Today: 39th President’s Memorial Services Conclude with National Funeral and Internment

Former President Jimmy Carter, who died on December 29 at the age of 100, is being honored with a national funeral service in Washington D.C.

on January 9. The funeral, held at Washington National Cathedral, concludes the nearly week-long plan of memorial services for Carter, which included state funeral services in Georgia followed by two days of his body lying in state at the U.S.

    • President Joe Biden, who declared Thursday a National Day of Mourning, is delivering a eulogy at the funeral, along with Carter’s grandson Jason and other speakers. Among the notable attendees at the service are President-elect Donald Trump and former Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and George W.
